It was one of those days. I had slept until noon, lounged in my pajamas until almost 4, and berated myself for most of those hours for not just getting my act together already. Which was all needless nonsense because when the lazies have hit, they have hit, and I have found that sometimes the best counter measure is none at all. I sprawled on the couch resolving to just roll with it. Who cares?! Take. A. Day. Off. Seriously, Type A. Chill.

Well, that was the idea until I got a note from Ann Pryzyzcki at Isthmus telling me that my piece, Diego Forever, had been listed as a notable essay in Best American Essays 2015. I try. Honest I do.

lisbontramI want to keep an honest to goodness blogging schedule, really. I know, you’re shaking your head and probably thinking – Kelly’s blogging hiatus is all part of the overall schema. You may have a point there! I could tell you why I’ve dropped off the grid (again) and how my time away has included returning to school as a worker bee and not as a student bee this year, and how I have been madly typing away on The Book (you should see the twist in chapter 5!), and how my writing group and I are solving all the world’s problems. Oh, and I had to book a trip to Portugal last night, so I was tied up with online ticket buying. See. There’s no rest for the wicked.
